A cable on the floor means the door is no longer held evenly. Leave it and call.
Cables run from the bottom fixtures up to drums on the shaft. They wind as the door opens. When a cable slips or snaps, one side of the door can drop and the slab hangs crooked. That is the visit Kate W. described, a snapped cable, told as a testimonial and not as a procedure.
Do not wind the cable back onto the drum. Do not run the opener to 'pick it up.' The opener can pull a door that is already off balance and bend the track. If the door is stuck partway, leave it. Keep cars and people out from under it.
A cable failure often follows a spring failure, or the other way around. The technician treats them as one opening, not as two catalog items. Cable length and drum size are measured on site.
No promise of that kind is made here. Call and describe the fray.
Not from us. Cables are replaced on a visit.
