Hopkinton is the town of the marathon start, on the hills between Westborough, Southborough, Ashland, and Holliston. Hopkinton has a historic center and later subdivisions on the hills. Two-car attached doors are common outside the center. A wide door on a hill house is a spring-weight conversation. Hopkinton is higher and windier than the towns closer to Boston.
Snow lingers on hill lots. An older extension spring along the horizontal track is still ordinary work. We replace it at the opening. A vertical rail creased by a car is straightened when the steel allows. Otherwise that section of track is replaced. If the sensors are in the sun and blinking, we shade or realign them before we replace a good pair of eyes.
