Essex County
Nahant is a small tombolo town off Lynn, almost an island, with houses exposed to the ocean on a narrow causeway. Garages are few and small. Nahant sees full salt air and wind, all year. Storms drive water at the seal, and winter freezes whatever got wet. We look at both cables when one has failed, because the second line is often the same age.
A worn hinge pin and a worn roller are changed together when both are sloppy in the same joint. We listen to the unit with the door disconnected. Noise that remains is the opener. Noise that stops was the door. Headroom is decided by looking up. A rail machine that will not fit is not what we order.
