A chain runs the trolley. We diagnose, repair, and install this drive.
A chain-drive opener uses a metal chain to move the trolley that pulls the door. It is one of the two drives named on the main opener card, along with belt drives. Chain drives are a common choice on doors that are already heavy. They are also noisier than a belt, which matters in a garage under living space.
A chain that has jumped, a trolley that stalls, or a motor that hums are reasons to call for diagnosis. The door may be the real problem. A weak spring makes any drive strain. The technician looks at both before recommending a repair or a new unit.
Installation of a new chain-drive unit is measured work: headroom, the existing rail, and the door weight. We do not name a motor brand. No price is listed. Free estimates are offered.
Wall-mount and belt-drive jobs are separate so this note can stay specific.
A chain is usually noisier than a belt. The right choice for your house is part of the estimate, not a rule published here.
Diagnosis and repair are both in scope. Some visits end in a new unit.
