In short. The estimate moves with the door's size, the failed part, access, and whether the door can be repaired or has to be replaced.
People ask what a repair costs before anyone has seen the door. The free estimate is the price. These are the things that actually change it.
Size is the first one. A single door and a double door do not use the same springs, and a taller custom opening is not a stock residential door. Weight follows size and also follows insulation and a decorative face. Heavier doors need springs matched to that weight.
The failed part is the second. A bottom seal is not a torsion spring, and a torsion spring is not a new door. If a spring break also chewed a cable or bent a track, the estimate grows because the visit grew. Access matters too: a tight alley, a door under a bedroom, or a long unplowed driveway changes the time on site.
Repair versus replacement is the last big fork. A matched panel can be cheaper than a whole door, and a whole door is the right scope when sections are twisted or no longer made. Ask for the figure in writing before work starts. Fair pricing appears in one customer note. It is not a rate card.
MassGarage is family owned, with 25 years in the trade. Elad is a technician on our crew. wrote that he fixed a snapped cable. This note is general information. It is not a license and not a repair procedure.
The price is the free estimate for the door we see. A range would not be your door.
