The bottom seal and the side and top strips that stop wind, rain, and pests.
Weatherstripping is the soft material at the floor and around the opening. When it cracks, flattens, or tears, the door can still move and still leak. Winter wind, driving rain on the coast, and mice are the reasons people notice. Insulation in the door body does not close a gap at the floor.
A seal that looks fine and still leaks may be meeting an uneven floor. The technician looks at the apron, not only the rubber. We do not explain how to cut and fit a seal. That is a short visit, with a free estimate if you want the number first.
Ice frozen to a seal is a reason to stop and call, not to chip under the door with a tool that bends the panel. Coastal salt and sun both age rubber faster. Inland driveways that hold melting snow rot a seal from the bottom.
Weatherstripping is a parts-and-labor visit, not a new door. If the panel itself is rotten or rusted through, panel replacement or a new door is the other conversation. Call for a free estimate on the seal.
Not if the spring or the opener is the cause. A seal fixes a gap.
Leave the seal alone. Call (781) 602-0737 if you want it replaced.
