In short. A cable that has come off belongs on the floor until a technician moves it. Keep people away from the door.
Cables connect the bottom of the door to the drums on the shaft. When a cable frays or jumps the drum, it may lie on the floor or hang loose along the track. The door can sit crooked, or it can be dangerously heavy. Either way the instruction is short: do not run the operator, and do not rewind the cable by hand.
A cable failure and a spring failure can happen together. You are not expected to know which came first.
The visit puts the door back in a state that can travel evenly, and the estimate names the parts. There is no published fee just for 'putting the cable back,' because the scope depends on what else let go.
Do not hook it back on. Keep people away from the opening and call (781) 602-0737.
Often the same visit.
